Now that the field has been cleared on the 2025-26 NFL Primetime season -- regular, post and Super Bowl (SB) -- let's wrap it up. There is no denying the extent of viewers that American football brings to broadcast television, making it the strongest performer in primetime versus any other program or genre. Using SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL's NFL playbook, this season has demonstrated solid results for broadcast with NBC continuing to lead the charge, besting cable and streaming.
Though Super Bowl LX was the "biggest game of this year", the sports powerhouse posted declines from "the most-watched SB ever"--2025's LIX. It did, however, finish as the 2nd most watched game. The SB has also always been synonymous with being the driver for the "Power of Live" television, landing as the #1 live performer in primetime and #1 in co-viewing every season. Bad Bunny called in an audible this year with a controversial halftime performance that peaked on Telemundo (but not on NBC) and was the "most watched SB halftime in Spanish language history" as well as setting a record for the most social views (according to NBC).
