Broadcast Prevailed! And so did the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, finishing its 86th season on April 7th with the Florida Gators sealing the championship over the Houston Cougars in the final minutes with a score of 65-63. The highest rated quarter hour of the championship game on CBS was from 11-11:14PM with 21.1M viewers. CBS broadcast the 2025 Final Four (15.5M) and National Championship (18.1M) this year, besting TBS' 2024 NTI performance by +151% and +145%, respectively, in P2+ impressions. Comparing CBS' full tournament average to the Turner Networks (TBS, TNT & TruTV), CBS outpaced it by 300% (7.8M vs 2.0M). While the Women's Tournament on ABC and ESPN turned in declines over last year's record-breaking season, which was a performance anomaly, ABC was able to defeat its cable counterpart ESPN by +127% in P2+ as well as producing more eyeballs among all key demos across the board. The women's madness concluded with their National Championship on April 6th where the Connecticut Huskies beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 82 to 59. If we look at the "National Championship" game versus all broadcast players in primetime so far this season, its delivery scored a 10th ranked position with 9 of those 10 spots live sports and #7 "The Oscars". The "Final Four" prime game garnered 12th place. Certainly an example of "The Power of Live" in primetime.
